More than you have probably heard about. Here is what we negotiated, and what it is already doing for the people in your building.
Join your unionTakes about five minutes. Dues come out over 10 months.
It happens on NEA's site. The form is seven short screens and takes about five minutes.
The form opens by asking where you work. Choose Maryland, then Howard County.
Your information and where you work. This is the part that takes the five minutes.
Most applications process within 24 to 48 hours, and a week at the very most. Dues start with your next pay period.
Four things in your current contract that were not there before we bargained for them.
Up to six personal days during the work year, usable consecutively, with no need to prove a health issue. School based employees could not do that before we negotiated it.
The system pays 83 to 85 percent of your health insurance premium, depending on the year you started. Premiums go up for everyone, including the system. What we protected is the split, and we held it for all three years of the contract.
ESPs have district laptops now. That was not standard. We bargained for it.
We are in year two. Each of the three years carries both a step and a cost of living adjustment, and the benefit percentages stay the same across all three.
Some of this only exists for members. That is not a sales line, it is how the contract and the association work.
For a lot of members the Member Benefits discounts cover the cost of dues on their own. Dues are also tax deductible, and they are deducted over 10 months of the school year rather than all at once.
Every win on this page was negotiated by the educators and ESPs who are already members. Join them.
